Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on the Students of the Present Era
Vol. 4 , Issue 2 (2026) · pp. 35-39
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are increasingly transforming the educational environment by changing how students access information, communicate, learn, complete academic tasks, and develop future-oriented skills. The rapid emergence of generative AI tools has accelerated this transformation, making intelligent tutoring, automated feedback, personalized learning, content generation, language assistance, coding support, and adaptive learning increasingly accessible to students. This paper examines the impact of AI and ML on students in the present era through a descriptive-analytical review of secondary data obtained from scholarly literature, international reports, and institutional publications. The study focuses on four dimensions: learning and academic support, development of student competencies, risks and challenges, and implications for educational institutions. The evidence indicates that AI can provide personalized assistance, facilitate access to learning resources, support feedback and engagement, and create opportunities for students to develop AI-related competencies. At the same time, excessive dependence on AI may create concerns regarding academic integrity, inaccurate information, privacy, bias, reduced cognitive engagement, and unequal access. Recent OECD evidence emphasizes that AI-assisted task performance does not automatically translate into genuine learning and that pedagogical guidance is critical. The paper concludes that the educational value of AI and ML depends less on technological availability alone and more on responsible use, AI literacy, teacher guidance, institutional policies, and learner-centered pedagogical design.
